A new heart beats in this world.
The little life opens his tiny eyes,
To look around and see faces reflecting expectations.
The baby learns to crawl, learns to walk.
They tell him to dream big;
So the little boy pushes his limits above the sky!
His innocent mind learns to fly.
But, they trap him in a cage.
A cage full of limitations.
The young boy stands up on his own,
They make him walk in their shoes.
They murder his thoughts,
They destroy his dreams.
Tired of fighting against hypocrisy,
The young man’s fighting a battle with himself.
A battle he’ll never win!
Because, they took away his shoes, not his legs.
Because, they took away his motivation, not his will.
Because they took away his fear, not his incentive.
The old man reminisces his life,
As he takes his final breaths.
He goes away,
Goes away with a smile across his wrinkled face,
Goes away without any regrets.
Goes away, defeated in the battle,
But having won the war,
He goes away.

Very well written Shreyas!
This poem conveys a strong message to me, of not giving in to the hypocrisy of the world and to retain one’s originality. According to me we should live our lives with our ways, not with any limitations set up by others. Without any “Cage”, we should fly as the sky is big enough for our dreams to come true.
‘Goes away, defeated in the battle,
But having won the war,”
True, winning the War of Life is very important.
This poem takes me to a next world! 🙂
