Les Paul

Now, every musician, especially guitarists know what a Les Paul is. The solid body electric guitar used by artists like Slash (Guns ‘N Roses), John Lennon (The Beatles), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Bob Marley, Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) and many more is considered to be one of the finest guitars. But, how many of us know about Lester Polsfuss?

Yes, Lester Polsfuss, professionally known as Les Paul was one of the pioneers of the solid body electric guitar. He was an American Jazz, Country and Blues guitarist, songwriter, luthier and inventor. He learned to play guitar by himself and is mainly known for his Jazz music.

His various playing styles like chording sequences, licks, trills, fretting techniques did inspire many guitarists of the present day.

Though his works contributed to Jazz, Country and Blues, the Les Paul guitar is used by artists from various other genres including Rock, Metal, Alternative, etc.

Paul is one of the few artists with a permanent exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Also, Les Paul is the only person to be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame as well as National Inventors Hall Of Fame.

In 2015, the Les Paul Foundation declared June 9 as Les Paul day.
