The Bridge

I walk up on the bridge to feel tall. Also, in a hope that I’ll find the lights to guide me home. Or maybe, to find a way through life. I feel low at the height. I don’t see a pathway, I see the horrific path I’ve walked down already. There’s no way back now. And I’m at the rock bottom. Supposedly, the only way is up. However, I find another as I look down. I glance up at the sky, at the far end of the horizon and take a deep breath. I close my eyes as I jump off the banister. Peace.
